Venezuela Visa: Requirements, Types, Fees & How to Apply
Start your applicationIt depends on your passport. Most nationalities need a tourist visa or business visa to visit Venezuela for tourism or business. All visitors coming to Venezuela must obtain a visa from any of their diplomatic missions abroad unless they come from a visa-free country. A visa does not guarantee entry — border officials make the final determination at the port of entry.

Do you need a visa for Venezuela?
Visitors are required to have valid passports and proof of funds to cover the duration of their stay. Only passports with a minimum of six months' validity are allowed. Check the Venezuela visa waiver list for your nationality before traveling. If your nationality is not on the visa-waiver list, you need a visa.

Who is eligible
Whether you need a visa for Venezuela depends on your nationality:
Naturalized Venezuelans do not need a visa but must have a passport issued by their second country and a national ID card called Cedula de Identidad, which is an original copy issued by the government to naturalized citizens.
Your legal residence also matters. Apply through the embassy or visa authority responsible for your country of residence.
Visa-exempt nationalities can enter Venezuela visa-free for short stays under bilateral agreements — check the visa waiver list.
Visa-required nationalities need a tourist visa or business visa for tourism or business visits.

At the border: what to expect
A visa lets you present yourself for entry — it does not guarantee admission. Entry into Venezuela is decided by immigration officials at the port of entry.
Entry requirements
- Valid passport with your visa or exemption stamp.
- Return or onward travel ticket.
- Proof of accommodation and itinerary.
- Evidence of sufficient funds for your stay.
Conditions of stay
- Stay length is set by the officer at entry — it can be less than your visa's maximum.
- A tourist visa is not a work permit — no employment.
- No full-time study on a tourist visa.
- Depart before your permitted stay ends; overstaying is an immigration violation.
